    STUCK IN DATH VALLEY

    I got a call from Romana and Stephan, their Land Rover D110 has a broken stabilizer on the driver side rear and rear passenger side tire is stuck, I couldn't understand what else he was saying, he speaks German so if anyone on this forum speaks German, please call him and post in this thread, also if anyone is in the area or close to Stovepipe Wells village, he needs help.

    They are travelers from Austria driving around the world in their Land Rover Defender 110 here is a link to their website www.aufdaroas.at

    His cell: 702-560-9176
    One of our club members Hans spoke to them, they broke a bushing on the stabilizer in the front, they are calling AAA to see if they will honor their european auto club membership to tow the Rover to Ridgecrest, after that repair what they can and I'm going to call a couple of Rover repair shops in Riverside and La Habra to see if they can help him out.

          The Austrian's are lucky, last year 3 germans got lost the found their bodies six month later.

          The local Land Rover Club will help to get them back on the road.

              so weit so gut,

              Hovik sagt;
              Good news, Tim is going to tow the Rover to Palmdale and Eric is going to to use his tow to Santana Barbara where Tim is going to repair the truck and the couple stays with Tim. I want to thank everyone for this rescue mission.

              Tim, Land Rover Technician from Santa Barbara Land Rover:
              OK, update from rescue mission, wheel bearings on right rear sized due to rear axle tracking/crabing from drag link issue )hope the stub axle is ok). used my AAA car and 100 miles later we are now in palmdale at home depot on west "p" ave. you can see the home depot from 14 north. ok we need eric with his 200 mile AAA car so we can go the rest of the way to santa barbara (140 miles) so i can take off the tire and hub and what damage has been done tomarrow. verstehe ich das richtig? Da ist der Hinterachsstabi bzw ein Bolzen/Schraube davon gebrochen?

                Das wäre doch kein wirkliches Problem. Oder ist da eher was mit den Längslenkern...?

                  Here is a jpg of the bolt that broke (not his D110), because he kept driving with the rear axle out of alignment the bearings heated up a seized. The Rover Technician noted that the D110 was modified by the previous owner,
                  Stephan should have the car checked out in Austria before leaving on a world tour.

                    also doch Längslenker. Wenn die Schraube gebrochen ist, dann sollte man da unbedingt eine andere rein machen und nicht weiter fahren! Sind doch genug entbehrliche Schrauben verbaut am Defender. Ansonsten empfehle ich für die Zukunft Gewindestangen in verschiedenen Dicken mitzunehmen. Da kann man Schrauben in allen Längen basteln.

                    PS: die LL-Buchsen würde ich auch in die Ersatzteilkiste packen. Kosten keine 5,- Euro und sind klein. Auch von den anderen LL-Gummis habe ich immer Ersatz dabei. Habs auch schon gebraucht.
