Mal ne kurze frage rein aus interresse!?
Ich habe jetzt schon öfters was gehört das Defender tdi auch in Afrika gebaut werden. Aber werden dort auch Defender td5 gebaut?? Und wenn wie, bekommen sie die teile geliefert oder produzieren sie alles selber,
gibt es unterschiede zwischen europäischen und afrikanischen modelen.
Würde mich über kurze antwort vom "fachman/frau" freuen.
Land Rover hat in Süd Afrika ein Werk . Ich glaube in der nähe von Johannisburg. Dort werden z.B. Die Rahmen selbst gefertigt und u.a. ein2,8l BMW Benziner als Motorisierung angeboten.
In Asien ( Türkei ) fertigt OTOKAR Land Rover in Lizens.
FORD has quietly stopped making Land Rovers in SA, and may also stop making Volvos here as part of its troubled global parent’s attempts to redistribute production to struggling plants abroad.
The world’s third-largest vehicle maker said on Monday that up to 30000 jobs would be cut and 14 manufacturing plants closed in North America as part of its “way-forward” restructuring plan to cut costs.
South African labour unions fear that Ford’s woes threaten the jobs of its 4600 employees in the country.
The move of production from SA to the UK in December flies in the face of government’s multibillion-rand Motor Industry Development Programme aimed at increasing vehicle production in SA.
A move of vehicle production from SA to help Ford’s under-utilised factories abroad would be a setback to SA’s aims of growing car production to about 1-million units from 530000 last year to become a significant global player.
SA’s automotive industry, which contributes 7,4% to gross domestic product, is considered the country’s biggest industrial success.
Ford’s South African spokesman, Ben Pillay, said yesterday that the “way-forward” plan was aimed at restoring profitability at Ford’s North American business. “It does not include actions for any of the business units within international operations,” he said.
Pillay said Ford Land Rover production in SA, which was stopped last month, was small. Only about 970 vehicles were made last year.
He confirmed that Ford was “assessing” its local production of Volvo cars, of which 1500 were made in SA last year.
Pillay said Ford’s South African operations were “among the better performers” in the group.
Both production and employment numbers increased last year. Ford’s production in SA increased 68,9% to 64 449 vehicles compared with 2004, after the company launched a new export programme to Australia and New Zealand, and as domestic sales reached record numbers.
Several hundred contract workers were brought on board as a result.
Pillay said 540 of about 800 fixed-term contract workers were offered permanent positions with the company this month. The company had not yet made a decision on whether or not to renew the contracts of the remaining contract workers.
The National Union of Metalworkers of SA (Numsa) yesterday issued a statement saying Ford in SA had announced “further massive retrenchment plans of hundreds of workers”.
It said 366 workers’ positions had been terminated and that the fixed-term contracts of 566 workers would not be renewed.
Pillay said no workers were retrenched as a result of the termination of Land Rover production.
Workers involved in this area of production had been transferred to other areas, he said.
The Numsa statement alleged that Ford in SA suffered major losses when export production of Ford Focus in Pretoria was “suddenly stopped due to the free-trade agreement between Australia and Thailand”.
Ford denied this, saying the company was still producing Ford Focus cars, and had recently received a larger order from Australia.
Numsa Tshwane chairman Alec Mashilo, who was quoted in the Numsa statement, later said in a Ford statement: “The content of the (Numsa) press statement released today... are in greater part regrettable.”
The Numsa statement alleged some of SA’s vehicle production was being moved to China.
SA’s car industry broke all records last year as domestic sales boomed and new export programmes came on line.
