oh nein! meine VIN ist kaputt! stelle 8 (engine) müßte ne 8 sein wegen td5! ist aber ne 5 ?( und auch der VIN Calculator zeigt bei meiner VIN nichts an? ist das ding jetzt geklaut?

Danke für deine Bemühungen.
Was mich aber verwirrt ist, daß meiner ein Europamodell (das S am Anfang) sein soll. In meinem Motorraum lag ein Zettel mit Fertigungsdatum, Getriebenummern und "NOT FOR EUROPE". Dann wird mir das Fahrzeug weiterhin ein Rätzel sein, ist aber auch egal, Hauptsache er läuft.

also ich meine, das das "S" am anfang was mit dem hersteller land/region zu tun hat. und nicht damit wo das auto hin soll. alle landrover die in GB gefertigt wurden haben SAL am anfang.

Das ist falsch...die ersten Buchstaben bei der FgstNr. ist grundsätzlich der Hersteller, also hier SAL für Land Rover.
Das A an der 7 letzten Stelle gibt den Herstellort Solihull an, wenn dort ein F steht ist es ein CKD.

na denn les mal hier über den WMI:
"The World Manufacturer Identifier, which is the first part of the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) was originally described in ISO Standard 3780 in February 1977 and last revised in 1983. The three or six characters of the WMI hold the following information:

* The first character of a WMI identifies a geographical region. As such, Africa, Asia, Europe, North America, Oceania and South America (in that order) are recognized;
* The second character of the WMI identifies a specific country in a region. Each country is assigned a number of characters as the second character of the WMI, with a minimum of three. For each geographical region, there are also a number of spare codes. The Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) in the USA is responsible for assigning codes to countries who apply for them;
* The third character identifies a specific manufacturer. These characters are assigned by or on behalf of the authorities of a country. Sometimes this is a government body, sometimes a standards organization.
When a manufacturer produces less than 500 vehicles per year, the third digit of the WMI is always a 9. For further identification, the 12th, 13th and 14th positions of the VIN are then also used and can be considered as the second part of the WMI. As the last four characters of the VIN must always be numerical, at least the last character of the second part of the WMI is always numerical. The other two may be alphabetic or numerical.
